My name is Laura Smith and I set up Wiltshire Wellbeing Services because I want to help people through their Trauma, Life’s stresses, Loss and Mental Health. In the sessions that I offer, it is important that the person is the centre of any session; I believe connecting with a person is the important foundation to build upon.

Then I went on to train as a Reflexologist, as it had always interested me. I enjoyed the connection I had with my clients as well as tapping in with my Humanistic nature.

I took a short break from any Therapy work in 2016 due to ill health, it felt important to take the break as I couldn’t give my clients the connection they needed. I learnt what it was like to be nonverbal for six months and it gave me a new appreciation of life.

This is what I aim to give to my clients, I want them to feel connection, to be heard and at the heart of the treatment they deserve or need.

I started my journey as a Beauty Therapist when leaving school, but was always drawn to holistic side of things; it became about connection and hearing what a client said. Life carried on, but I experienced a huge loss in life and felt a little lost. So, I did a small amount of volunteering, and I really enjoyed helping others. Then, one day a good friend of mine suggested I embark on a counselling training course. At this point in life I had little self-confidence and it just seemed scary.

I completed my Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and Foundation Degree in Humanistic Counselling in 2014, at Lackham College and am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). It was here that I met some amazing peers, and where I really started to understand myself - specifically how my journey through life had affected my whole existence.

During my training I volunteered at two different places. One was for a Children’s Centre where I met an array of different people and the other, was with Stroke survivors. I learnt so much at both places.
